Founder: Rick Martinez 

 

Rick Martinez, has been a prominent figure in the organic certification field since the early 80’s, and was active in crafting the original organic regulations in the 1990s that govern the industry today. Fluent in Spanish and English, Rick brings with him almost 30 years of experience providing organic inspection, consulting and training services to countless farms, processing facilities, governmental and non-governmental entities as well as US and international certification agencies in over 50 countries around the world. He has lead and taught numerous organic inspector trainings in the North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
 

Rick served two terms as Board President of the International Organic Inspectors Association (IOIA) and 7 years as a Board Member in the 1990s. In addition, Rick has been an organic farmer in the Tampa, Florida area for almost 40 years, having started his own sprouting and specialty greens business in 1979.  In 1993 Rick founded Sweetwater Organic Community Farm, an educational nonprofit community-supported farm in Tampa, FL.  Combining his extensive farming background with a degree in engineering, years of experience in complex food processing systems and his extensive worldwide connections throughout the organic industry, Rick offers clients “best in class” service with an expert understanding of and sensitivity to the history and practice of organic certification today.

President: Bryan Hindert

Bryan Hindert has been involved with organic production and certification since 2010.  Bryan began as an intern at Sweet Water Organic Farm where he learned about urban organic farming at an established CSA in the Tampa Bay area for a number of seasons.  He eventually took on the role of Certification Manager, where he helped ensure the farm maintained its organic certification.  Since then, Bryan has been working with Organic Integrity International, assisting a variety of clients in both the crop and processing scopes to obtain or maintain organic certification.  

 

Bryan is also an active organic inspector, and has been performing organic inspections throughout the country since 2016 in both crop and processing scopes for a number of certifying agencies including: Quality Assurance International (QAI), CCOF, PCO, Quality Certification Services (QCS), Americert International, International Certification Services (ICS), NOFA-NY, and SCS Global Services.  

 

In addition to organic certification, Bryan also has experience inspecting and assisting clients in obtaining NonGMO Project Verification for their products as well as for OMRI product listings.
